Iconic American singer, Cher, will be heading to Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome with her ‘Here We Go Again Tour’, fresh off the success of Mama Mia 2 and the release of her ‘Dancing Queen’ CD…
2018 has been a hot year for the Oscar, Grammy and Emmy-award winning performer, Cher. She appeared on screen last summer in Mama Mia 2, the successful sequel to the 2008 ABBA musical, where she sang 2 songs ‘Fernando’ and ‘Super Trouper’.
Cher parlayed that success (Mama Mia 2 has grossed nearly $400 million worldwide) by releasing a full-CD of ABBA covers entitled ‘Dancing Queen‘, which includes her two songs from the film, plus Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight), The Name of the Game, Chiquitita, SOS, Waterloo, Mama Mia, The Winner Takes It All and One of Us. The CD dropped in early October, debuting at #3 on the Billboard album chart, which ties with ‘Closer to the Truth’ (her last CD from 2013), as her best result on the chart.
Internationally, ‘Dancing Queen’ has been equally successful, reaching #2 in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Scotland, Spain and the UK. Here in the Netherlands, the CD reached #18 on the Dutch album chart.
When Cher performs at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on 30 September 2019, it will come exactly 15 years and 3 months after her last live performance, on 30 June 2004 at Ahoy arena in Rotterdam.
In addition to tracks off the new album, Cher can be expected to cover many of her biggest hits including Believe, If I Could Turn Back Time, I Found Someone, After All, The Shoop Shoop Song, Half Breed, Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves and Dark Lady.
