OUTLET SHOPPING IN NETHERLANDS
There are four main outlet shopping centers in Netherlands, two in the north and two in the south:
Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet is located in Lelystad (Flevoland), about 50 minutes north east of Amsterdam by car. It was the first outlet center to open in Netherlands in 2001. Batavia Stad has roughly 115 shops. Dutch and international brands include Adidas, Armani, Bjorn Borg, Calvin Klein, Chasin’, Claudia Sträter, Denham, Diesel, Esprit, Gant, G-Star RAW, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Levi’s, Manfield, Michael Kors, Nike, ONLY, POLO, Replay, Sandro, Skechers, Suit Supply, The North Face and Tommy Hilfiger. Bus #3 runs between Lelystad Centrum train station and Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet. Open 7 days/week.
Designer Outlet Roermond is located in Roermond (Limburg) on the German border, approximately 45 minutes south east of Eindhoven and 45 minutes north of Maastricht by car. It is the largest and most upscale of the four Netherlands outlet centers with over 175 shops. Premium international brands include Armani, Bally, BOSS, Breitling, Burberry, Chloè, Coach, Diesel, Dolce & Gabbana, Dsquared2, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade, Longchamp, Michael Kors, Moncler, Moschino, POLO, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ted Baker, Versace and Zegna. The Designer Outlet center is within walking distance of the Roermond train station. Open 7 days/week.
Designer Outlet Roosendaal is smaller than the two outlet centers above with about 85 shops. It is located in Roosendaal (North Brabant), 20 minutes west of Breda and 30 minutes south of Rotterdam by car. Brands are approximately 40% Dutch (Chasin’, Expresso, Fabienne Chapot, G-Star RAW, Garcia, Marlies Dekkers, Mustang, My Brand, Nikkie, Scotch & Soda, Van Lier), 40% international (BOSS, Calvin Klein, Esprit, Gant, Guess, Karl Lagerfeld, Lacoste, Skechers, Tommy Hilfiger) and 20% athletic (Adidas, Nike, O’Neill, Puma, Under Armour). The outlet center is a 5-minute bus ride (#104 or #112) from Roosendaal train station. Open 7 days/week.
Amsterdam the Style Outlets is the newest and smallest of the four Netherlands outlet centers. It is located on the site of a former sugar refinery between Amsterdam and Haarlem (North Holland) and is the only outlet center within the Randstad region. Shops include Adidas, Bjorn Borg, Desigual, G-Star RAW, Guess, Marc O’Polo, Nike, Pepe Jeans, Sissy-Boy, Skechers, S.Oliver, Sunglass Hut and WAM Denim. The center can be reached by train (station ‘Halfweg’). Open 7 days/week.
OFF-PRICE RETAIL STORES IN NETHERLANDS
TK Maxx is the European subsidiary of TJX, the world’s largest off-price retailer. The first Dutch TK Maxx store opened in 2015. There are now a total of 16 Netherlands locations including in Amsterdam (3), Rotterdam (2), The Hague, Eindhoven, Groningen, Nijmegen and Utrecht. TK Maxx sells clothing, shoes and accessories for women, men and kids, plus toys, housewares and home decor items at prices up to 60% off suggested retail. TK Maxx does not sell online.
