#2 – VOLKSWAGEN 32,160 units (8.3%)
- After plummeting to fifth place in popularity of car brands in Netherlands in 2024, the former favorite of Dutch drivers recovered to capture the second spot among the top 10 car brands in Holland. The brand had the top car model in Netherlands for 2025… the Elroq which sold nearly 12,000 units.
#4 – TOYOTA 27,799 units (7.2%)
- The Japanese brand fell to fourth place (from third last year). Toyota sold nearly 3,000 fewer new cars in 2025 compared with 2024 and its market share dropped to 7.2% compared to 8.1% LY. #5 – RENAULT 25,200 units (6.5%)
- The French auto brand had a good year in Netherlands, selling 6,400 more units than it sold in 2024 which earned it 5th place among the top car brands in Netherlands for 2025 (up from 9th place in 2024). Like Volkswagen, it had none of the top 10 car models in Holland for the year.
#6 – BMW 22,370 units (5.8%)

#7 – VOLVO 20,493 units (5.3%)
- The Swedish car maker which shot up to the number two position last year, saw its good fortune take a hit by selling 10,000+ fewer units in 2025 than 2024. Its market share dipped from 8.1% to 5.3% which earned it the number seven ranking. Its top selling model continues to be the EX30.
#8 – HYUNDAI 17,683 units (4.6%)
- The second Korean brand among the top ten car brands in Netherlands is Hyundai, which has slowly been losing market share due to lack of newness. It sold 1,500 fewer new cars in the market in 2025 than it had in 2024, dropping its share to 4.6%.
#9 – AUDI 16,980 units (4.4%)
- Volkswagen Group’s premium brand, Audi, moves back into the top 10 car brands in Netherlands for 2025, selling nearly 17,000 new autos for a 4.4% market share.
#10 – TESLA 16,684 units (4.3%)
- The once HOT brand definitely cooled off in the Netherlands in 2025, primarily as a result of the extreme negativity generated by the company’s head, Elon Musk, while heading up American President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.). Despite selling nearly 50% fewer units in 2025 vs 2024, Tesla still managed to have two of the best selling car models in the country for the year: Model Y and Model 3.
