NOTES ABOUT DUTCH INTERNET, HOME TELECOM & UTILITIES
The Netherlands has an open system in regards to home telecom and utilities services giving consumers multiple service provider options to choose from.
Considerations when choosing a provider…
- Telecom services are available individually (internet or TV or phone), but bundled package deals can bring down the costs significantly.
- Demand for fixed phone service in Netherlands has decreased significantly in recent years. Nowadays this service is rarely purchased as a stand-alone product from a provider.
- Internet providers advertise their fastest download rates and latest technology (for example, fiberglass network). Be aware, the infrastructure required to support the advertised speeds may not yet have been rolled out in a specific city or neighborhood. Maximum speeds therefore may be lower.
- Residents will have multiple choices when it comes to an energy supplier, but not for water supplier as there is only one per region.
