When doing your own repairs or improvement, it is a good idea to become familiar with Dutch building code standards. For example, when replacing a light fixture, be aware that in the Netherlands, brown is used for positive/phase wires, light blue for negative/null wires, black for switch wires and yellow or green for ground wires.
