Based on data released from Netherlands statistics agency CBS, France is most popular country when the Dutch head abroad for vacation. Here are the top ten destination countries…
The report looked at data from summer 2016 to determine the ten most popular countries the Dutch head to when they vacation abroad. Nearly twice as many Dutch people took an international holiday last summer compared to the number who vacationed here in Netherlands (5.3 million vs. 2.7 million). Those who went international spent €3.7 billion abroad.
France tops the list in popularity with 1.09 million Dutch holiday makers. This was a 5.1% decrease from the previous year primarily due to the the recent terrorist attacks in the country. Germany reaped some of the benefit with a strong second place showing (a 14.6% increase year on year), narrowing the gap between it and France to just 132,000 in 2016.
