THE NETHERLANDS 10 LARGEST HOTEL CHAINS
[1] FLETCHER HOTELS
The 100+ hotels operated by Dutch hospitality company Fletcher make it by far the largest hotel chain in Netherlands. Their 3 and 4-star hotels are located primarily in towns and villages along the North Sea coast or in the green heart. Amsterdam (1) and The Hague (2) are the only larger Dutch cities that have Fletcher Hotels. Many of the chain’s sites are housed in renovated historic buildings and nearly all offer outdoor recreational activities like cycling and hiking nearby.
[2] VAN DER VALK HOTELS
The second largest Netherlands hotel chain is also Dutch. Van der Valk operates 60+ locations of which 40 are Valk Exclusief properties (4-star plus accommodations). Among these are Avifauna (at the well-known bird park of the same name), Blijdorp (at the Rotterdam Zoo), Spier-Dwingeloo (in national park Dwingelderveld) and Kasteel Bloemendaal and Kasteel Terworm (both housed in former castles).

The Spanish hospitality NH Hotel Group is well-represented in the Netherlands with over 30 locations making it the fourth largest hotel chain in the country. Its nameplates include NH Hotels, nHow and NH Collection. The hotels are located in major cities including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Eindhoven and Groningen.

This mega American international hospitality corporation is the sixth largest Netherlands hotel chain with 26 locations operating under an incredible 11 different names. They are: Autograph Collection (2), Courtyard (2), Design Hotels (4), Element Hotels (1), Marriott (3), Moxy Hotels (4), Renaissance Hotels (2), Residence Inn (2), Sheraton (1), Tribute Portfolio (4) and W Hotels (1). Half of the hotels are located in Amsterdam with 3 more in the Schiphol Airport area. The remaining hotels are in Rotterdam (3), The Hague (3), Breda, Den Bosch, Maastricht and Utrecht.

The American hospitality firm Best Western first established itself with low-priced, no-frills motels along highways in the western United States. It has since expanded exponentially including abroad. Here in the Netherlands it is the seventh largest hotel chain with 22 locations. In addition to the Best Western and Best Western Plus brands, it has BW Premier Collection, BW Signature Collection (2), Executive Residency by Best Western and World Hotels Crafted.

InterContinental Hotel Group is a British multi-national hospitality company that operates 17 hotels under several banners here in the Netherlands making it the eighth largest chain in Holland. Their brands include Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express (Amsterdam, Almere, Leiden, Utrecht), Crowne Plaza Hotels (Amsterdam, Utrecht), Hotel Indigo (The Hague), InterContinental Hotel (Amsterdam) and Staybridge Suites (The Hague).

This family-owned Dutch hospitality company got its start in the 1960’s with its first hotel location on the island of Vlieland. Today the company has 15 locations including five in Amsterdam, five on the Wadden Islands, two in Rotterdam (including Hotel New York) and one each in Delft, Groningen and Leeuwarden.

In tenth place tie for largest hotel chains in Netherlands is the Dutch group Eden Hotels. They operate 14 funky properties including the Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American, Babylon Hotel (The Hague), Savoy Hotel (Rotterdam) and Designhotel (Maastricht).
